Starting from the beautiful fishing village of Skala Kalloni with the picturesque harbor we move east where bypassing Kalloni we will stop in the area of Alyki (salt field) where we will watch the famous pink flamingos that live there.
Then we will move to the Messa sanctuary where we will tour the archaeological site.There are the ruins of the ancient temple of the 4th century BC. dedicated to the gods Zeus, Hera and Dionysus, and belonged to the geographical boundaries of the ancient of Pyra (fire) , the city which is submerged in the gulf of Kalloni
Our next stop will be the town of Agia Paraskevi with its masterly elementary school complex and its classy mansions. There is also the Olive Museum where you can get acquainted with the history of olive oil production on Lesvos.
Then we will continue our tour to the monastery of Leimonos, the oldest monastery of Lesvos dedicated to Taxiarches. The Monastery was founded in 1526 by Saint Ignatius himself and lived through a tremendous period of prosperity in the centuries that followed, maintaining in it educational, technical and priestly schools.
From there we will finally return to Skala Kalloni
